Focus.
GI Food & Gospel Outreach (Cambodia)
Musicians, athletes, soldiers. The list is longer, but these are the first three that came to my mind. People who train for almost a lifetime to generate a specific outcome that success or failure is decided in just a few seconds or minutes. One note. One race or game. One shot. Thousands of hours of practice comes down to a moment in time. All of them have tasted both victory and defeat. But what keeps them going? What allows them to operate at an incredibly high level? Focus. They have a specific target, and they muster every ounce of focus in every cell of their body to hit that target.
Why are so many people struggling right now? They have no target. The goalposts keep getting moved. Just when it seems there is a light at the end of the tunnel, the light goes out, the tunnel changes direction, or you feel like you’re now going backwards.
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.Hebrews 12:1-2 (NKJV)
We are living in unprecedented times, but human history has endured, and overcome, many adversities. If you find yourself lost in that tunnel, then change your focus. Fix your eyes on Jesus by increasing your time in the Word and prayer. Fill your mind with the revelation of God rather than the speculations of man.
